The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) is planning to reconsider the Traffic Relief Plan of Maryland state. The board will discuss plans to build the American Legion Bridge, that address transportation issues with the Capital Beltway project.

In June 2021, TPB voted to set aside the projects concerning improvements on the Capital Beltway, due to the option of adding toll lanes on I-270 from the Capital Beltway to I-370 in Gaithersburg. However, there are no new toll lanes included in Maryland's plan for the American Legion Bridge project.

The meeting took place on July 21, 2021.
