Marubeni-led consortium selected to develop Shuqaiq 3 Independent Water Project

The Water and Electric Company of Saudi Arabia has named the consortium led by Marubeni Corporation as Preferred Bidder for the Shuqaiq-3 Independent Water Producer (IWP) Project desalination facility on the Red Sea coast. 

The consortium is comprised of Abdul Latif Jameel Commercial Development Company, Acciona Agua SA, Rawafid Alhadarah Holding Company and Marubeni. The companies will develop, design, finance, build, commission, operate and maintain the Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant that has a capacity of delivering up to 450,000 cu.m. per day.

The Shuqaiq-3 IWP Plant will be located in the Shuqaiq City, on the Red Sea Coast, approximately 137 km north of Jazan, Southern region of Saudi Arabia. The plant is designed using Reverse Osmosis seawater desalination technology to produce the potable water.
