A panel of expert organized by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SCFTA), the state-chartered sub-regional transportation planning and programming agency for San Francisco County, has recommended a market sounding process for a major rail project in the County.

A structured market sounding program is set to gain direct input on the technical, financial, operational interface and risk drivers from the private sector of the proposed railway project.

The development of a Downtown Rail Extension (DTX) that will extend Caltrain commuter rail from its current terminus at Fourth and King streets to the new Transit Center. It will also deliver the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s future high-speed rail service to the Transit Center.

The procurement of the project is set to start on the second quarter of 2021.
