The College of Business Education (CBE) in collaboration with the Public-Private Partnership Centre (PPPC), has announced an upcoming market-sounding event for the development of new students' hostels on its Dar es Salaam campus, Tanzania.
This project seeks to boost accommodation services from 1.34% to 30% at the Dar es Salaam campus, which has 11,924 students but currently only 160 beds. The College is planning to develop an additional four buildings with five floors each. The new facilities are estimated to cost TZS 20.7 Billion (US$ 7.7 million) for construction and are expected to accommodate around 2724 new students aside from 160 covered. The proposed PPP model for this project is Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Maintain, and Transfer (DBFOMT).
Therefore, CBE is actively seeking potential developers, financiers, insurance companies, real estate service providers, construction engineers, and other interested parties to partner with under a PPP arrangement to ensure the successful execution of this project. The project is set to accommodate around 3,000 students, generating a stable revenue stream through rental income. High demand for on-campus housing, due to the existing shortage, ensures high occupancy rates. For developers interested in expanding their portfolio in the education sector and establishing a long-term impact, this partnership with CBE presents a prime opportunity.
