The Government of Maldives, in partnership with the Asian Development Bank acting as the transaction advisor, is inviting interested parties to participate in the market-sounding session for the planned request for proposal (RFP) tender of a 20 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project that will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme.
The solar PV farm will be constructed in a mix of land, rooftop, and nearshore floating solar installations in 20 outer islands of the country. The selected developer will design, build, finance, own, operate and maintain the projects. The technical capabilities and financial resources of the interested bidders will be evaluated as well as the lowest tariff that will be offered.
The energy that will be generated from the solar farms will be supplied to the state-owned utility Fenaka under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
