Madrid’s regional government is seeking to cut the tariff it pays to the concessionaire of the Metro Ligero Oeste project to reflect lower-than-expected traffic on the light railway line. Madrid was paying to the concessionaire for 67% of the trips originally planned, whether they were reached or not. In 2016, the infrastructure had 5.5 million travelers, but Madrid paid as if it had 16.5 million. The Government has sent a notice to the concessionaire to cut part of this subsidy
