The ministry of transportation in Angola has concluded the studies of the concession model of light-rail surface metro system development in the capital city of Luanda. To start the implementation of the project different responsible department of the ministry is consulting central as well as local government bodies. The project will be implemented as a public-private partnership.
This project will improve mobility in Luanda by connecting different transport modes such as subway, buses, individual and collective taxis, as well as motorcycle taxi with one another in an organized manner. Luanda faces the challenge of large and adequate public transportation network which can be resolved with the light rail metro system.
The metro system project is expected to be approved in 2019.
