L&T has issued a termination notice to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) after the completion of 55.65% of the work, that it is not willing to complete the remaining work in Tamil Nadu.
The INR 8.48 billion (US$ 103.4 million) Chennai-Tada NH5 project is a 225 km long 6-lane expressway. The project is divided into 4 packages. The first package, which is 41 km long, is being constructed by L&T. The second package, which is 52 km long, is being constructed by Afcons Infrastructure. The third package, which is 39 km long, is being constructed by Navayuga Engineering. The fourth package, which is 93 km long, is being constructed by IL&FS Transportation Networks. The project is expected to be completed in 2025
