The consortium responsible for the development and operation of Gaziantep Health campus PPP in Southeastern Anatolia, Turkey has started the process to restructure the US$ 530 million loan from sponsors. The project is owned by the Samsung consortium, which consists of Samsung C&T Corporation, Salini - Impregilo, Genesee & Wyoming, and Simed International B.V. The project is currently under construction and facing delays due to down valuation of Turkish Lira.
The purpose of restructuring is to extend the maturity period of existing loans and avoid new borrowings. In 2016, the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) among other lenders provided the US$ 530 million loan with a tenor duration of 18 years.
