Belize's Prime Minister has signed a US$ 45-million development loan agreement with the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) for the construction of a tertiary hospital in Belmopan.
The planned medical facility is envisioned to be a comprehensive healthcare center that offers a wide range of secondary and tertiary medical services. It will cater to the healthcare needs of the local community and beyond, providing advanced and specialized treatments, diagnostics, and procedures. Moreover, this facility will have a significant role in education and research as it will serve as the university hospital for the University of Belize's Faculty of Medicine.
Located in Belmopan, the capital city of Belize, the hospital enjoys a strategic position. It will not only serve the residents of western and southern Belize but also act as an alternative healthcare destination during natural disasters or emergencies.
