The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of Egypt has signed a loan agreement of JPY41 billion (US$320 million) for the first phase of Cairo metro Line 4 in Egypt.
Mitsubishi Corporation awarded Colas Rail, Orascom Construction and Thales with a EUR650 million (US$701 million) contract on April 2022 for the installation of the rail systems, and the construction of the tracks and depot.
The joint venture consists of Arab Contractors Company (leader), Concord, Petrojet and Hassan Allam Holding will be responsible for civil works on the western section of 13.7 km (Hadayek El Ashgar – Amr ibn El Aas).
The Cairo metro Line 4 is designed to fit a capacity of 2 million passengers per day and is expected to be operation in February 2028.
