DP World has successfully marked 4 years of operation and maintenance for the commercialization of the Limassol port in Cyprus.
The firm has served an impressive number of 250 cruise ships and efficiently managed the arrival of over 400 thousand passengers. Additionally, in the transit trade sector, the company successfully processed over 3,500 commercial vessels and handled more than 3 million tonnes of cargo. To enhance its operations and remain competitive, the port has made significant investments in cutting-edge equipment and technology, resulting in improved efficiency and reduced turnaround times for vessels. These advancements have positioned the port as a key player in supporting the exploration of energy reserves in the region.
Limassol Port has the capacity to accommodate vessels of up to 250 m in size, with a berthing depth of 14 m. Spanning an estimated area of 1.5 million sq m, the port currently manages all container traffic and handles 40-50% of the total cargo flow. Additionally, it serves 75% of the passenger traffic, highlighting its significance as a key port in Cyprus. The port is strategically positioned along major shipping routes, making it an essential link for maritime trade between Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. It handles various types of cargo, including containers, bulk cargo, general cargo, and petroleum products. In addition to its cargo operations, Limassol Port also accommodates cruise ships, attracting tourists from around the world.
