The Medellin city has held two webinars with more than 160 entrepreneurs from countries in order to explain the technical, legal and financial details of the Medellin Metro de la 80 LRT PPP project.
The project includes the development of a 13.25km long light rail transit (LRT) system connecting the north of Medellin city to Aguacatala station. With 17 stations Metro de la 80 line will also connect the current Medellín Caribe metro station. It will mobilize 52 million users annually and will reduce the emission of 94,173 tons of CO2 every year.
The total estimated investment of the project is COP3.5 billion (USD0.87 million) of which COP2.4 billion (USD0.60 million) will be financed by the National Government. The early works for the project are being co-financed by the National Government (70%) and the Municipality of Medellín (30%).
