Montenegro's Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs has reportedly received an order from the Prime Minister to resolve real estate issues currently delaying the concession of Tivat Airport.
The Minister of Transport has announced plans to concession the airport to Parliament in September 2018. However issues concerning the ownership of the airport's land must be resolved before the concession process can begin.
The Ministry is currently entangled in several lawsuits brought by private landowners seeking compensation for assets siezed by the state in the 1950s and 1960s. The Prime Minister has reportedly directed the Transport Ministry to resolve these issues using administrative methods, rather than by compensating owners.
