The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) of Kuwait is planning to award the Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract for its wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Al-Mutla’a.
The project will develop a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 400,000 cubic meters of water per day expandable to 600,000 m3/day. The scope of works also includes a renewable energy system (solar, wind or biogas) to provide 40% of the power required by the WWTP, the main transformer station, a control system for treated water network, waterlines to a bird sanctuary and irrigation tanks for South Al-Mutalaa residential area as well as sludge treatment, storage and transport and related works.
The selected EPC contractor will be responsible for supervising the design consultant's scope and carrying out the supervision work. The EPC contract award is expected by April 2022 and the project will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025.
