Kontron has completed the acquisition of Arce Mobility Solutions, the Spanish public transportation technology business of Kapsch TrafficCom.
The amount of the transaction is EUR7.6 million (US$8.2 million). Arce Mobility Solutions supplies railways, metros and buses with solutions, equipment and installations for public transport, primarily ticket vending machines, access control solutions and solutions for parking and driving. Arce Mobility Solutions generated approximately EUR11 million (US$11.9 million) in revenue for the financial year. The acquisition of this company is in line with Kontron Transportation's commitment to the next generation of mission-critical broadband solutions.
The acquisition is Kontron's step into the rapidly growing transportation industry. The company already owns assets in Belgium, North America and the Netherlands.
