The Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure of Serbia has signed financing agreements with KfW development bank for the development of water and sewage infrastructure projects across Serbia.
KfW will provide financing for two wastewater treatment projects and a potable water treatment plant:
- EUR18 million (US$18.79 million) will be provided for the development of a central wastewater treatment plant in Jagodina. The plant will provide services to approximately 72,000 inhabitants. The project financing also includes a EUR6 million (US$6.26 million) reconstruction and expansion of the existing collector and sewage system.
- EUR20 million (US$20.88 million) will be invested in the water and sewage infrastructure in Pirot. A wastewater treatment plant and reconstruction of the water supply network are being carried out under the concession. Out of the investment, EUR16.2 million (US$16.91 million) are allocated for wastewater plant development and expansion of the existing sewage network. The project aims to provide services to approximately 52,000 inhabitants of the municipality.
- EUR6 million (US$6.26 million) subsidized loan will be provided for the development of a drinking water treatment plant in Kikinda. The construction works for the plant are already underway since March 2022. The estimated investment value of the project is EUR10.2 million (US$10.65 million). The remaining investment will be provided from the budget of the Government of Serbia. The plant construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
