Kenya’s state-owned power producer, Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), has extended the deadline for the request for qualification (RFQ) tender for the design, financing, supply, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the 140 MW Olkaria Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) Geothermal Power Project.
The deadline for the submission of documents is rescheduled to February 21, 2020.
In November 2019, KenGen has launched the tender for the development of the project in Olkaria, Nakuru County, under the Build, Own, Operate, Transfer (BOOT) basis of PPP.
KenGen will be providing steam under a 25-year steam supply agreement while Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) will purchase the energy produced by the plant under a 25-year PPA contract.
