PT Mora Telematika Indonesia Tbk (Moratelindo) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui) at Tugu Kunstkring Paleis, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Indonesia.
The deal involves the creation of a joint venture in which 51% is owned by Moratelindo and 49% by Mitsui. Moratelindo and Mitsui will collaborate to develop passive civil and technical telecommunications infrastructure, including the construction of ducting projects, telecommunications towers, data centers and submarine cables in Semarang and generally throughout Indonesia.
Mitsui will be structuring the project and Moratelindo will facilitate relations with local authorities. The investment cost for the construction of air ducts and telecommunication towers is IDR2.64 trillion (US$170 million).
