The Government of Kenya has announced the start of the JIKA - Westland's expressway operation in Nairobi, Kenya following the completion of the trial period for motorists.
The 27.8 km expressway was extended from a single 2-lane road to a dual 4-lane carriageway, costing KSh12.5 billion (US$100 million). As a result of construction, the Eastern Bypass Road connects Mombasa Road with the Tika Superhighway at Kamakis, passing through the cities of Embakasi, Uthawala, Ruai and Ruiru. The Nairobi Expressway had a trial period from 14 May to 30 July 2022.
The road will be closed from 21:00 on July 30, 2022 until its official commissioning
