Government of Jamaica has announced a new water treatment plant development project in Rio Cobre, St. Catherine. St. The plant will have a daily output capacity of 15 million gallons. The project will be procured through PPP model of finance, design, construct, operate and maintain. The project is expected to take 2 years for construction and after the construction, the private partner will sell water produced to National Water Commission (NWC).
The investment required for the plant is approx. US$ 60 million. The private consortium of a local bank and international construction company in water infrastructure development will participate in the concession process. The consortium will have 45 days for the negotiations after which the works will commence.
