Ireland provides funding for Clonburris new town project in Dublin

The Ministry of Housing, Local Government and Heritage in Ireland has announced a multi-annual funding package of EUR186.30 million (US$189.67 million) for the development of Clonburris Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) located in South Dublin. The funding package is part of Ireland's Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF).

The Clonburris SDZ project involves the development of 7,730 to 11,098 new homes comprising 1,000 social homes and 1,600 affordable homes. 120 homes of these to be delivered under the Social Housing Public-Private Partnership Programme. Other deliverables include 15.5 km long cycle and walkways, 3.3 km long canal frontage, 2 train stations, 8 schools, 90 ha of open spaces, 7,300 sqm of community space and 31,115 sqm of office spaces.

The funding will enable the development of approximately 8,700 homes at the SDZ site along with new link roads, utility corridors and bridges, public parks, a green infrastructure network, community centers, multi-purpose civic facilities, pumping stations and regional attenuation ponds for drainage management. It aims to provide housing for approximately 23,000 people.
