Ho Chi Minh City has called for investment in 6 planned wastewater treatment projects (WTP) to treat about 3 million m3 of wastewater per day in Vietnam.
The upcoming WTP, namely Bac Sai Gon 1, Bac Sai Gon 2, Cau Dừa, Tay Bac, Tay Sai Gon, and Suoi Nhum, are part of the city's plan to enhance its wastewater treatment capabilities. By 2025, the city intends to initiate a bidding process to select investors for these projects, aiming to complete them between 2026 and 2030. These initiatives are crucial in achieving the city's objective of treating all domestic wastewater before it is released into the environment.
The city has invested in various WTP, including Binh Hung (141,000 m3/day), Binh Hung Hoa (30,000 m3/day), and Tham Luong – Ben Cat (15,000 m3/day). Upgrades are underway for Binh Hung and Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe plants, increasing their capacities to 469,000 m3 and 480,000 m3/day. Additionally, the city is consolidating Tan Hoa – Lo Gom (300,000 m3/day), Binh Tan (180,000 m3/day), and Tay Sai Gon (150,000 m3/day) treatment plants.
