The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced investments of US$340 million in upgrading Dakar’s Public Transport Network in Senegal.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) will contribute EUR166.9 million (US$177.4 million), the French Development Agency (AFD) EUR 100 million (US$106.3 million) and EUR53.5 million (US$56.9 million) grant from Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). The financial support will be focused on the restructuring of the Dakar bus network, the acquisition of 380 natural gas buses, the construction of 2 depots, the installation of ticketing, network management and control systems and 30 km road development.
The investment will also provide institutional support to CETUD, Dakar’s public transport authority.
