Colombia’s national infrastructure agency (ANI) has released the list of interested parties for the La Dorada-Chiriguaná railway rehabilitation concession project.

After evaluating proposals from eight interested consortiums, the ANI will proceed with the awarding of Public Works contracts, including design, intervention at vulnerable points, emergency care, and surveillance for the entire corridor. The Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional (FDN), with the ANI's support, is currently structuring a Public-Private Partnership for this project. It is anticipated that the corridor will be operational by the first half of 2024.

The strategic railway corridor known as the La Dorada - Chiriguaná section spans a distance of 522 km. It serves as a vital link between the country's interior and the Caribbean region, passing through several departments including Caldas, Antioquia, Santander, Norte de Santander, and Cesar. Along the railway corridor, it crosses numerous municipalities such as La Dorada (Caldas), Sonsón, Puerto Triunfo, Cocorná, Puerto Nare, Puerto Berrío (Antioquia), Cimitarra, Puerto Parra, Simacota, Barrancabermeja, Puerto Wilches, Sabana de Torres, and Rionegro (Santander), La Esperanza (North Santander), San Alberto, San Martín, Aguachica, Gamarra, La Gloria, Pelaya, Pailitas, Tamalameque, Chimichagua, Curumaní, and Chiriguaná (Cesar).
