InfraStrata plc is set to acquire the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, UK from Norwegian company Dolphin Drilling for a total consideration of GBP6 million (US$7.37 million).
In August, Harland and Wolff Heavy Industries went into administration. The owner of the company, Dolphin Drilling, has filed for bankruptcy and put the shipyard up for sale in June.
The shipyard is an infamous facility that built the Titanic between 1909 and 1911. It was opened into operation in 1861.
InfraStrata plans to expand the capacity of the shipyard and increase the size of the workforce for the next five years.
