Ministry of Transportation in Indonesia has always encouraged the involvement of the private sector in the development of transportation projects. The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) procurement is often used in complicated projects and to maintain the efficiency in infrastructure provision.
In 2019, the ministry of Transportation floated total of 41 projects across Indonesia on PPP procurement model. Out of which 31 projects are in planning stage, 5 projects in outline business case phase (Proving Ground (BPLJSKB) Bekasi; LRT Cibubur – Bogor; Cibungur - Tanjung Rasa Railway; Lahat-Tarahan Railway; MRT Service Extension), 2 projects in final business case (Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Poris Plawad, Tangerang; Bau Bau Port), 1 project in tender preparation (Patimban Port), 1 project in RFP (Komodo Airport) and 1 project has been awarded (Makassar Pare-pare Railway).
