The Government of Indonesia is planning to tender the Bintan-Batam bridge project under a Public-Private-Partnership model. The decision was made on the basis that the government has prepared a budget not sufficient enough to build the whole bridge, but rather part of it connecting Batam and Tanjung Sauh. This first bridge will cost IDR3.4 trillion (US$234.7 million) and will be 2,124 meters long.
The remaining second bridge with a 5,561 meters length will be financed by private investors. The project will be built as a whole after the selection of financial investors. The tender is expected to be held in the second quarter of 2021.
