India´s NHAI tenders personal rapid transit system pilot project on PPP
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a request for qualifications (RFQ) for the Delhi-Gurgaon Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system PPP project.
The system will have a route length of approximately 12.3 kilometers connecting the Delhi Haryana Boarder with the Rajiv Chowk, Gurgaon & Sohna Road in Gurgaon. The project will start from Km 24 NH 8 (Delhi Haryana Border) – Km 33.5 (Rajiv Chowk, Gurgaon) – NH 248 A Sohna Road.
The project will be developed under the PPP model on design, build, finance, operation and transfer (DBFOT) basis.
A PRT system uses automatically-driven small vehicles to carry individuals or small groups non-stop from the origin station to the destination station, wherever the stations lie on the network of guideways. Vehicles are parked off-line at stations to be immediately available when passengers arrive, or if no vehicle is at the station, one can be called up automatically from nearby. As a result, waiting times are very short (often zero), and since all stations are off-line there are no intermediate stops.
The PRT system uses small electric vehicles automatically controlled on a dedicated guideway. The vehicle is based on conventional automotive technologies and is battery powered.
The estimated investment for the project is Rs. 8,356.2 million (US$125.7 million).
Pre-Application Conference will take place on April 18. Interested parties must submit their qualification documents on or before May 2.
