Indiana issues RFP seeking energy infrastructure developers

Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) in Indiana, USA has launched three requests for proposal (RFP) seeking developers to establish energy production infrastructure using solar, wind, thermal, standalone storage, emerging technologies, and other capacity resources. NIPSCO provides services to approximately 468,000 electric customers across the northern third of Indiana.

  1. The first RFP is issued to establish energy infrastructure using wind resources or wind resources paired with storage;
  2. The second RFP for solar projects or solar projects paired with storage and;
  3. The third RFP will target all other resources including fossil facilities, system power options, standalone storage, emerging technologies, and other resources.

NIPSCO is targeting to develop 400 - 650 MW of capacity through this procurement. These RFPs are part of the plan for the addition of approximately 1,150 MW of solar and solar plus storage, 160 MW of wind, and 175 MW of other resources by 2023.
