The Ministry of Finance in India has identified six airports to be privatized in the second round of airport privatization. Airports in Amritsar, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Raipur, and Trichy will be auctioned in Phase II. The private partner will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the airports.
From Phase I, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has already auctioned three airports out of six. The total investment is estimated for both phases is INR 130 billion (US$ 1.72 billion). The revenue from airports in Phase II will be INR 10 billion (US$ 133 million), while the annual profit is INR 5.4 billion (US$ 72 million). The AAI will get a down payment of INR 23 billion (US$ 306 million) from the Phase II of auction.
