The Ministry of Civil Aviation in India has proposed to privatize more airports after the successful completion of airports in Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Guwahati for the operation, management and development through public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The Ministry has plan to float the proposal before Union Cabinet for approval. Six airports were cleared on PPP in February 2019. Airport Authority of India has suggested to also privatize the airports in Amritsar, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Raipur, and Trichy. The ministry has plans to build 100 new airports by 2030.
