The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced plans to monetize airports across country under the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) program. A total of 25 airports were identified for asset monetization under the NMP.
AAI will still own all the airport assets, and they will be returned back to the authority once the concession period is finalized. 13 airports, among which is Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) International Airport in Tamil Nadu, will be developed, operated and managed by the private partner under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The following 23 airports have been selected: Bhubaneshwar, Varanasi, Amritsar, Trichy, Indore, Raipur, Calicut, Coimbatore, Nagpur, Patna, Madurai, Surat, Ranchi, Jodhpur, Chennai, Vijayawada, Vadodara, Bhopal, Tirupati, Hubli, Imphal, Agartala, Udaipur, Dehradun, and Rajahmundry.
