Impregilo wins Trento hospital PPP project

A consortium of companies formed by Impregilo (leader with a 51%), Codelfa and Consorzio SST (Servizi Sanitari Trentini), has been provisionally awarded the concession contract for the design, construction and subsequent management of non-health technical services of the new Hospital Pole of Trentino Region.

On March 29, the proposals were opened. Three other firms, Cmb, Mantovani and Pizzarotti submitted proposals as well. The evaluation of bids were split into technical and economic parts, each being wighted respectively 70% and 30 %.

  • Cmb- Economic: 11 points (€ 291,166,535), Technical: 59 points
  • Impregilo- Economic: 15 points (251,844,486.96), Technical: 70 points
  • Mantovani- Economic: 21 (€271,620,174.06), Technical: 57 points
  • Pizzarotti- Economic: 25 points (€243,550,653), Technical: 25 points

The end result are:

  • Cmb: 70 points.
  • Impregilo: 85 points,
  • Mantovani: 78,
  • Pizzarotti: 75 and

The tender was launched in December of 2011 and the four teams had been shortlisted in August 2012.

The Project

The overall project value, inclusive of financial expenses, is approximately 310 million euros of which 160 million financed by the Public Administration and the remaining part by the association of concessionary companies. The value of civil and architectural works, electromechanical installations, medical appliances and furniture is circa 250 million euros.

The Autonomous Province of Trento will remit to the concessionary, since the start-up of the management phase, an overall yearly concessionary lease of circa 55 million euros also for the management of health services in the Trento Province.

The concession duration is 27 years and 6 months of which 3 years and 7 months referring to the design, construction and test phases.

The new Hospital of Trento will have an overall surface of 122,000 square meters with 600 beds, beyond 28,500 sqm of covered parkings. To be more specific, the new buildings envisage 92 intensive therapy beds and 126 day-hospital beds, 20 rooms for surgery of which 2 delivery rooms and 180 consulting rooms, as well as parkings for 1,600 cars.
