International Finance Corporation (IFC) has announced its support for the Government of Guinea - Bissau in the restructuring of GuinéTelecom and GuinéTel under a public-private partnership (PPP) project. 

The project will create affordable and high-quality digital services for the population of Guinea - Bissau, as well as accelerate the development of the country's digital economy. The introduction of private sector expertise in the provision of quality digital services will enable increased competition in the sector and thus significantly improve the cost and quality of services for the people of Guinea-Bissau. The reduction of the cost of services is increasingly important at a time when a Bissao-Guinean mobile subscriber spends on average more than 19% of their monthly income on telecommunications services. IFC has extensive experience in restructuring telecommunications companies to achieve these goals.
