The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) announced a new partnership to implement the Solomon Islands Tourism Investment Facilitation Project.
The project involves attracting investment in the Solomon Islands' tourism sector to ensure the island nation's growth and prosperity. The aim of the project is to overcome tourism market failures and achieve the project aim of facilitating private investment to unlock the tourism sector’s potential. The project will implement 3 components: investment facilitation for investable sites; improving the tourism investment climate and investable site inventory development beyond Western Province.
IFC has been partnering with the Solomon Islands to attract investment in tourism since 2017. Previously, MCC and the Solomon Islands government signed the Solomon Islands Threshold Program, a 4-year grant that promotes sustainable economic development through the Accessing Land for Tourism Investment Facilitation Project and the Forest Value Enhancement Project.
