IDB Invest has provided a BRL470 million (US$85.70 million) corporate loan to Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo S.A. (Sabesp) for the improvement of environmental and sanitary conditions in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, Brazil.
The loan will be used to partially finance a number of initiatives, such as the expansion of the Parque Novo Mundo, So Miguel Paulista, and Barueri sewage treatment plant's capacity and the optimization and expansion of the sewage collection network. The scope of the work also includes the construction of 200 km of collection networks and 160 km of interceptors and trunk collectors.
IDB Invest intends to reduce the amount of sewage that is discharged into the Tietê River by expanding and improving the sewage collection, transportation, and treatment system sustainably.
