The Private Investment Promotion Agency PROINVERSIÓN has announced that the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) funded the Salaverry Multipurpose Port Terminal public-priavte partnership (PPP) project with US$115 million over 20 years.
IDB Invest contributed US$50 million out of US$115 million. Institutional investors provided the second tranche of US$65 million, which subscribed to the bonds under the private offer. Long-term financing from investors and IDB guarantees the sustainability of operations at the terminal and will favorably reduce logistics costs, enhancing the competitiveness of the La Libertad region and the north of the country.
The project involves the modernisation of the Salaverry multipurpose port terminal, located in the Department of Trujillo, in La Libertad region of Peru. The port facility communicates with the Panamerican Highway north, through an asphalt road of 8 km.
