The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is reportedly in advanced talks to commit US$200 million to a trust set up by the Argentinian government to finance the early stages of six road PPP projects.
The projects concern the design, construction, expansion, upgrading, repair, remodelling, operation, maintenance and commercial exploitation of six road corridors located across Argentina. Concession contracts were awarded in June 2018 and signed in July.
Across all six concessions, the first year of construction is estimated to cost US$1.2 billion.
The IDB's financing is expected to be finalised over the next few weeks. Its contribution to the trust will add to that of Banco de la Nación Argentina, which is providing between US$200 and 300 million.
