National Highway Authority (NHA) in Pakistan has decided to seek financing for Hyderabad Sukkur motorway from a private partner. Thus the project will now involve building, financing, operation and transfer of 300 km long green-field 6-lane between Sukkur and Hyderabad. This road section is part of the proposed greenfield 1152 km six-lane motorway that will connect Karachi and Lahore.
The project tentative cost is more thanUS$ 2.3 billion. NHA has appointed Pakistan public-private partnership authority to facilitate the procurement process for the project.
The concession period for the project will be 25 years, which includes 3 years of construction and 6 months of financial close.
