The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has announced that the 220km high-speed rail line linking three-airports will be delayed. The project will link Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in Bangkok, and U-Tapao, a joint civil-military airport built during the Vietnam War which serves the Eastern Economic Corridor, an area that encompasses the provinces of Rayong, Chachoengsao and Chonbur.
Earlier the project was scheduled to be operational by 2023. Completion is scheduled for 2023, which is delayed due to additional cost overrun due to the demolition of infrastructure.
