Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, has been selected to deliver exterior and interior renovations to the Salem Civic Centre/City Hall in Salem, Oregon, USA.
Howard S. Wright will carry out GBP 30 million (US$40 million) in significant upgrades to the 1970 Civic Centre, including seismic retrofit and structural improvements. The project will also include a new parking garage and extensive interior renovations. Collaborating with Hacker Architects and CBTWO Architects, the team will first handle design and preconstruction tasks, with the remainder of the contract awarded by Q2 2025. Construction is set to begin in Fall 2025, with completion expected by Spring 2027.
Howard S. Wright has extensive experience in Oregon building renovations, including seismic retrofits and interior upgrades. Notable projects include the Salem Public Library, the Portland Building renovation, and the Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building. The company also recently completed the Salem Public Works Operations Building, a 30,000-square-foot facility consolidating four offices into one, and conducted structural seismic upgrades for the Salem Public Library.
