Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation has announced the opening day of the first phase of Honolulu’s metro system in Hawaii, USA.
Scheduled for public opening on June 30th, 2023 the initial phase of Honolulu's metro system spans 17.7km, linking Kualaka`i Station in east Kapolei to Hālawa Station near Aloha Stadium. Trains will operate on this route with a frequency of one every 10 minutes, serving a total of nine stations.
Future expansions of the rail line are in the works, including the Airport Extension scheduled for opening in 2025. This extension will connect Aloha Stadium to Middle Street - Kalihi Transit Center, with four additional stations along the way. Additionally, the City Center Extension is planned to open in 2031, expanding the line with six stations reaching Civic Center.
