Honduras approves Omoa terminal PPP

The Government of Honduras has given a green light for the development of the Omoa Maritime Terminal. Located in Omoa on the Caribbean coast of Honduras near the municipality of Puerto Cortes, the terminal will have facilities to operate cruise ships, merchant ships, as well as cabotage. Inversión Estratégica Portuaria (Investport) and Servicios Consolidados de Honduras are responsible for the concession contract and will act as contracting authority.

The estimated investment value for the project is US$120 million. The private company will be responsible for the financing and construction of the terminal as well as operation and maintenance works for 25 years. The concessionaire will be exempted from paying income tax for 15 years. Construction works for Omoa terminal are expected to be finished by 2023.
