The highway concession projects in the state of Rio de Janeiro are under legal uncertainty which could result in backing out of investors. The state government is in the process to float a number of highway concessions, legal stipulations might be a hurdle in the plans of the government.

Recently the superior court has ordered the termination of the Linha Amarela urban highway concession and might terminate Via Lagos too. The concessionaire companies Invepar and CCR have been adversely affected by the decision. In the case of the Linha Amarela toll road in audit, it is surfaced that the concessionaire has collected 60 times more toll taxes than the total service cost. Due to similar reasons, state legislators demanded to terminate Via Lagos also.
