High Performance Schools of Ancash, Tacna and Moquegua would be operational By end of 2024

The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) has reported that before the end of 2024, the High-Performance Schools (COAR) of Áncash, Tacna and Moquegua will be operational.

The projects represent an investment of PEN 304.2 million (US$ 80.5 million) and will benefit 900 talented students in their third, fourth, and fifth years of secondary school by providing them with adequate infrastructure.

  • At COAR Áncash, financed by Antamina required PEN 97 million (US$ 25.6 million) the physical construction is complete and currently being received.
  • COAR Tacna is 96.7% complete, with a total investment of PEN 105.4 million (US$ 27.8 million), funded by Southern Peru and executed by the Ministry of Education (MINEDU).
  • COAR Moquegua, also financed by Southern Peru, is expected to be delivered in 2024, with a total investment exceeding PEN 101.8 million (US$ 27 million).

These schools are part of a larger package of six COARs designed to benefit outstanding students from Ica, Piura, Ancash, Apurímac, Moquegua, and Tacna. The entire set of projects is estimated to require an investment of PEN 550 million (US$ 145.5 million). The goal of High-Performance Schools is to offer quality basic education to 300 students per school, with modern, safe, and well-equipped facilities. Each project involves the construction of classrooms, laboratories, workshops, a school library, a covered sports area, a food preparation and sales area, residential quarters with the necessary equipment, and classrooms dedicated to pedagogical innovation, along with general service facilities.
