The Paraguay Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has reported that the Héroes del Chaco bridge is getting closer to its completion.
The installation of solar panels on the cable stays has commenced, and simultaneous asphalt paving is ongoing in the Remanso-Falcón area. Lighting system installation has been initiated on the Costanera Norte, covering the entire 7 km route up to its junction with the Falcón-Remanso route in Presidente Hayes. Another significant milestone involves the placement of 640 tons of asphalt, along with new signage and signaling on the right bank of the Paraguay River, Chaco'i side. Upon completion, it is anticipated that this infrastructure will accommodate around 10,000 vehicles daily, serving traffic to and from Asunción and alleviating congestion on the current Remanso bridge.
The cable-stayed structure over the Paraguay River spans 603 m in length and 32 m in width, making it the first to feature four lanes for vehicular traffic, pedestrian paths, and bicycle lanes, offering a forward-looking vision.
