Helios Investment Partners have entered into the agreements to acquire a majority stake in Maroc data center (MDC) and IXAfrica data centre for an undisclosed sum. Both transactions are subject to customary closing conditions.

Helios has invested US$50 million in IXAfrica, whereas the terms of the MDC deal are not disclosed yet, but Both transactions are subject to customary closing conditions. MDC and IXAfrica are well-positioned to play pivotal roles in the digital transformations of Morocco and Kenya, respectively, and will be benefited from Helios’ expertise building world-class, fast-growing, high impact, multi-country, platforms in Africa.

MDC operates a single 2,000 sqm (21,500 sq ft) facility in the Rabat metro area of Morocco. The company is specialized in the construction and operation of neutral datacenters.

XAfrica in Nairobi, is the newest digital habitat for cloud, colocation and connectivity in East Africa. Its facility was designed to assemble hypercloud and internet customers on East Africa’s largest data hub campus. The company is focused on fast-tracking the growth and development of the IT sector to help drive the economy in the region.
