The Government of Guyana has signed a concession contract with China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) JV for the New Demerara River Bridge (NDRB) PPP project in Georgetown, Guyana.

The joint venture of CRCC JV is formed by China Railway Construction Corporation (International) Limited, China Railway Construction (Caribbean) Company Limited and China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group. The project will replace the existing floating bridge with an approximately 1,500 m long fixed bridge with a 50 m high movable span and two roads of a total length of 600 m. The estimated investment value for the project is US$260 million.

The bridge design is not yet finalized, but it will have a high span at an altitude of 50 m from the highest water point. This will eliminate the need for bridge retracting and provide passage to handymax-size vessels anytime.
