EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG has completed the process of selling a 24.95% minority stake in its grid subsidiary TransnetBW to KfW.
The federal government assigned KfW to acquire a stake in TransnetBW. KfW possessed the option to procure a second minority stake of identical size (24.95%), a choice it has recently exercised based on the market terms set by EnBW during the sales process. TransnetBW operates as one of Germany's four electricity transmission system operators. With the finalized agreement with KfW, EnBW has concluded the process initiated with the announcement of the partial sale of TransnetBW in February 2022. EnBW will retain its position as the majority shareholder in the transmission system operator. The transaction's closure is contingent on the approval of pertinent antitrust authorities, anticipated in November. Financial details of the agreement remain confidential as per mutual agreement.
